Where this unit stands

The Valkyrie is the only aircraft anyone has described in this game. PC Gamer, writing on 9 June 2026 about the gameplay reveal, reports seeing one fly past and unleash a rocket barrage — and it records this in a paragraph about the scale of bombardments, not in a list of units. That placement matters and this page will not resolve it: nothing published says whether the Valkyrie is a unit a player recruits or the visual form of an ability a player triggers.

02

What the tabletop establishes

On the tabletop the Valkyrie is the Imperial Guard’s air transport, armed with rockets and multi-lasers and able to carry a squad and drop it. It is how a Guard army reaches somewhere it has no business being, and its guns are the secondary point. The distinction matters for this game because Total War has never had aircraft in the modern sense — the Warhammer trilogy has flying monsters, which are units that fly, not vehicles that pass over and leave.

Tabletop identity, as established by Games Workshop. It says nothing about the video game.
03

What has actually been shown

One sighting, and a placement in the text that is itself the interesting data. The account groups the Valkyrie with a giant explosion sending Orks into the air, under the heading that bombardments are big. If the writer had understood it as a unit he had seen deployed, it would more naturally have joined the list of units two paragraphs earlier — which he does provide, in full, for both factions. It is not in that list. That is an argument from where a sentence sits, which is weak, and it is the only argument available.

04

What to watch next

The open question is whether this game has an air layer at all. The publisher’s own description names aerial strafing runs among the abilities a player deploys, which points at aircraft as effects rather than as things on the field. But the same faction, on the tabletop, uses its aircraft to move troops, and this game has already been reported to let Space Marines arrive by drop pod — so arrival from the sky is plainly modelled somewhere. If the Valkyrie is an ability, the Astra Militarum gets fire support from off the map. If it is a unit that carries, the faction that is defined by walking slowly acquires a way not to. Those are different armies. Information correct as of 4 September 2026.

What is not known

These questions have no published answer as of 9 June 2026. They are listed because an absence of information is information — and because we would rather name the gap than fill it.

?One sighting in a preview. No publisher text names this unit.
?Whether it is a recruitable unit or the visual form of a battle ability is unstated — the same account lists it among bombardment effects.
?Whether it carries troops, as it does on the tabletop, has never been mentioned.
