Where this unit stands

According to press coverage of the presentation on 7 June 2026, Stormboyz were seen diving into the fighting with their rocket packs — not confirmed by the publisher in any material we were able to open. On the tabletop, Stormboyz are Orks who have strapped rockets to their backs in order to reach the enemy sooner. No statistic has been published for any unit in this game.

02

What the tabletop establishes

Stormboyz are a joke that the setting takes seriously. Orks who cannot wait for the fighting to come to them attach unreliable rockets to their armour and launch themselves at it, and the resulting unit lands in the middle of an enemy formation. The tabletop has always priced them as a delivery mechanism rather than as fighters: what they do is arrive somewhere they should not be able to reach.

Orks who have strapped rockets to their backs in order to arrive at the fighting sooner. They land in the middle of an enemy line, which is the entire point.

Tabletop identity, as established by Games Workshop. It says nothing about the video game.
03

What has actually been shown

Only their presence and their rocket packs have been reported. Nothing has been published about how the arrival works in this game — whether they fly, leap, deploy from a distance, or simply move quickly — and that distinction is the whole unit. The reporting describes an appearance, not a behaviour, and the two are not the same claim. A rocket pack visible on a model tells you what the unit carries; it tells you nothing about what the engine lets it do with it. One sequence of gameplay showing the unit crossing a battle line would answer the question in a few seconds. None has been shown. Information correct as of 3 September 2026.

04

What to watch next

The open question is one Total War has never had to answer. The series has flying units, which circle and land, and it has fast cavalry, which goes around a line. It has never had infantry that lands behind a line in the middle of a battle. That single ability breaks the assumption every Total War formation rests on: that a flank exists and can be protected. Either the unit is expensive and rare enough that guarding against it is a real cost, or every battle becomes a question of where the Stormboyz will land. Creative Assembly has described neither the mechanic nor its price. Reported by press coverage of 8 June 2026, not confirmed by the publisher. Information correct as of 18 August 2026.

What is not known

These questions have no published answer as of 8 June 2026. They are listed because an absence of information is information — and because we would rather name the gap than fill it.

?Press coverage reports Stormboyz diving into the fray with their rocket packs.
?Total War has flying units, but it has never had infantry that lands behind a line mid-battle. Nothing has been said about how such a unit is priced or answered.
